HOW TO DISTINGUISH THE DIFFERENT PROSPOT WELDERS

In autobody, a lot of equipment is available to help technicians achieve the desired results during repairs. Fortunately, with technology, equipment is becoming more and more specialized and can meet the growing needs of body shops to increase their performance and comply with new industry standards.

ProSpot is a world-renowned brand that specializes in welding equipment, including auto body repair. Thanks to their complete and diversified inventory, the Californian company offers several specialized equipment for different needs and different budgets.

It is in this article that we will help you distinguish the different most popular ProSpot welders, so that you can make an informed choice.

RESISTANCE SPOT WELDER

Resistance spot welders allow materials to be welded faster and more securely than ever before. The welder reproduces the same type of weld as that done at the manufacturer's factory, with equal strength and quality.

*NEW*

I5S : Smart Spot Welder 208-240V with Ergo Lift Assist™

The new Pro Spot i5s Smart Spot Welding System comes equipped with the industry’s most advanced adaptive auto welding technology and robust on-board training resources. The i5s advanced welding control system senses, reacts and adjusts welding energy based on material composition, thickness and resistance properties in real-time.

I4S – Smart spot welder

The i4s Smart Spot Welder features all the things technicians love about the i4 and more. The i4s is fully automatic and does not need any adjustment. The software, which is updated free of charge, determines the type of metal, power and welding time required. Built in training provides technicians immediate resources to get the job done faster than ever. With our Wifi connectivity, you will receive automatic updates from Pro Spot and weld log reporting via email.

The patented Pro Spot C2X Arms gives our resistance spot welders more versatility and ease of use than ever before. It is also the first C-X Style Adapter to allow users to weld in Auto Weld Mode. Users no longer have to switch to Manual Weld Mode.

The i4s is therefore similar to the i4, with additional features that make use much more efficient and convenient. It's the technology of the future, available today!

PR-2000-HP – Inverter Resistance Spot Welder

The PR-2000-HP resistance spot welder is very similar to the i4. It effectively represents all of the same specifications and features but is differentiated by its air cooling only.

PHS-101-HP – Hybrid battery operated spot welder

Three-phase current not available in your workshop? The PHS-101-HP welder operates with 4 slow-charge batteries and delivers high amperage continuous welding current designed to produce powerful spot welds that meet industry requirements. No input power is required to operate the welder. This is designed for workshops who do not have 3-phase 220V and is powered by 4 slow-charge batteries.

MIG WELDING MACHINES

MIG : Metal Inert Gaz. Neutral gas that does not react with the molten metalIn the MIG welders shown below, each allows the shielding gas and welding program with the appropriate synergic curve to adjust automatically when the trigger is pulled.

Some three-phase power supplies use a fourth wire, the latter being a neutral wire. The two most common configurations of three-phase systems are known as Wye and Delta. A Delta configuration has only three wires, while a Wye configuration may have a fourth wire, which is the neutral wire. Single phase power supplies also have a neutral wire.

SP-2 – Smart MIG pulse welder

The technology used in the SP-2 makes this MIG welder ideal for body shops that weld steel, silicon bronze and aluminum. In synergic mode, the microprocessor controls the optimal stability of the arc and the quality of the weld. Welding can be carried out in continuous or pulse mode.

SP-5 DP – Single phase double pulse

The SP-5 DP dual-pulse MIG welder has been designed with microprocessor-based controls and welding programs specially tailored for the collision repair industry. Applications include MIG welding of aluminum, brazing and steel. Its double pulse technology offers precise heat control and the aesthetics of aluminum welding (ideal for vertical welding!).

The SP-5 DP can also save and recall over 200 work points and store them in a customizable work list. The update must be carried out by USB key.

SP5.3 – 3 phase smart double pulse MIG welder

The SP-5.3 Dual Pulse MIG Welder is a three-phase welder as required for some OEM certification, with microprocessor controls providing excellent welding performance on all materials and thicknesses, regardless of welding time. Its double pulse technology offers precise heat control and the aesthetics of aluminum welding (ideal for vertical welding!).

The SP-5.3 also allows to record and recall more than 200 work points and store them in a customizable work list. The update must be done by USB key.
